William, 53 is a pattern maker
manufacturing wooden moulds for concrete casting. His
hobbies are waterskiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing,
air-chairing, snow skiing and hill walking.

John Timmis
John Timmis, a Police Officer on the Roads Policing Unit
in South Warwickshire, discovered he had arthritis in both hips after a skiing
accident in Val D’Isere in 2003.
Entrepreneur Dan (46) has been Corin’s
distributor in Croatia since having had his left hip
resurfaced in February 2003; his hobbies include more
mundane activities such motorcycling, mountain biking, beach
volley, football and basketball to the more adventurous
scuba diving and diving into the sea from heights!
Yvonne,

Carol Petty
Carol, 42, a
Medical Secretary at Basildon Hospital, has now been able to resume her keep
fit regime which she had given up prior to her operation because of the

a retired swimming Teacher from Barnet, Hertfordshire enjoys, cycling,

Pam Vinnicombe
Pam, 59,
full time PA to the CEO of a large engineering company, always enjoyed a
full and active life until a problem started in her left hip in June 1992,
when her hip suddenly gave way whilst walking on holiday.
Quinn, 33, has been a professional dancer for 20 years and is now dancing,
choreographing and teaching her lifetime love in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. In
her spare time Quinn enjoys cooking for friends, and making her home look
like the “after” on Trading Spaces.
David, 47, is
a Mechanical Engineer and project manager whose career has centered on the
design of scientific and medical instrumentation. David enjoys bicycling,
canoeing, photography and reading and is married with two daughters.
Neil
Thompson, 53, a retired Detective Superintendent now working as a Security
Operations Manager, found his lifestyle becoming more and more restricted by
arthritis in his left hip. Now, after a Hip Resurfacing replacement
operation, he is not only leading a normal life, but has climbed the Mer de
Glace on Mont Blanc.
Denis, 46,
works for a communications company in Ireland on Network Quality Management
and has a passion for both watching and taking part in sporting activities.
At the age of
47, Alan Kelly reappraised his increasingly sedentary lifestyle, and started
actively exercising and running half marathons – until arthritis in his hip
started limiting his activities. Now he is aiming to get back to a “normal”
lifestyle, thanks to a revolutionary new hip replacement operation.

Bosworth, 52, is an Administrative Assistant at the School of Law at
Coventry University. She enjoys Appalachian clog dancing, hill walking and
the theatre. Tessa was suffering from excruciating knee pain and was unable
to walk without crutches.

Adkins, 63, is a retired Principle Lecturer and Senior Course Tutor at
Coventry University, and discovered that both his hips were arthritic after

Alan Barnes MBE - Updated four years on
Alan was awarded the MBE in the Birthday Honours list for his 28 years
service in the RNLI.
When Alan
Barnes leaves home on a Sunday morning to go down to the quay in his
hometown of Falmouth, it’s no ordinary boat he is getting ready to take out
in the waters around the coast of Cornwall. Alan is Coxswain of the Falmouth
Lifeboat, the largest boat in the Royal National Lifeboat Institute’s fleet
of offshore rescue vessels.
Catherine Triscott is an account director for a Marketing company, whose
job entails client meetings, travel and long hours. She started noticing
pain and stiffness in her hip, was diagnosed as
having displastic hips and has now had a metal-on-metal Hip Resurfacing
procedure.

Mike Bailey
Mike Bailey, is a 49-year-old Environmental Manager for an
electricity utility company in Wiltshire. He had a car
accident which badly damaged his hip joint. This eventually
resulted in Mike having to have his hip replaced with a
Cormet Resurfacing Hip.

Sara Davis
is a 32-year-old American musical theatre Actress. Both her lifestyle
and career were put in jeopardy by severe osteoarthritis in her hip. She
has recently undergone Hip Resurfacing.
Nearly 50 years ago, Ann was a student nurse at the Royal
Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, and watched many of the
operations that were then available. Six years ago, when her
own hip began to give her real trouble, she had to face up
to the possibility of a total hip replacement, and the
effects it would have on her busy, very active life.

Portch is a 56 year old, retired airline Pilot and was an excellent

younger patient grouping, and enjoyed a very active lifestyle.
